Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Starting solids

Hi everybody! Moving over from the 3 - 6 month board!

I've been hoping that we could wait to start DS on solids until he was 6 months, and we've made it! He is sitting by himself, very interested in everything, holding his own bottle for the most part, which is impressive since he is only given 8 bottles a week!

I would like to start avacados in the morning, or maybe Thursday morning if they're not ripe all the way. DS is EBF, and I'm looking for advice on a schedule to introduce solids. TIA!

Re: Starting solids

  • Have you seen www.wholesomebabyfoods.com ?  It's a great resource for solids!  I started my DD earlier than I wanted to (4 months) because I wasn't pumping quite enough milk for her.  She got 2 ounces / day until 6 months and then we stared increasing.  I have a Baby Bullet and LOVE it, but it is not necessary.  My LO did not care for avocado, but would eat it mixed with banana (which she loves).  I did banana first followed by avocado, sweet potato, homemade oatmeal, squash, peaches and then lots of other things. . .
