Gift not arriving on time

What would you do if you don't think your gift will arrive in time?

In this case - I thought we were leaving Friday afternoon to go OOT - and this package is coming Thurs.  DH forgot to tell me he requested Friday off, so now we're probably leaving Thurs.  UPS has been coming around 6-7pm, so there is no way I'd get it in time.

What should I do?  Print out a little card with the picture/description of the items and give it to the recipient?  It's not the sender's fault, so I'm not going to do anything drastic (like request re-routing, cancel, or refuse package), plus I've never seen it in stores.

I'd stay home and relax on Thursday and still leave Friday, haha..

Well do you have to then ship it after you get home? I really might wait til it arrives to leave.
