are you just trying as many types until LO gets it? i've tried a couple and he just chews on the ends...not getting the sucking concept. we've had success a few times but mostly just bites it.
i'm wondering if a soft spouted nipple would work? then it's less like a chew toy than a bottle
Re: sippy cups..
We've got one by Nuby with a soft spout and two handles. He enjoys playing with it, and he likes to drink out of it if someone else is holding it. He's pretty solid on clamping his mouth down over the spout, but he can't figure out how to tilt it on his own, so he just jams his mouth down on it and grunts angrily because he isn't getting water.
It's pretty funny, actually.

we did one and she likes it. I probably don't give it to her often enough though.

Like pp said, DD will hold it but can't lift it & tilt her head enough to get anything out. If I tilt it for her though she'll drink some & will do that with a cup too. I took the filter thing out so if she gets it close it'll come right out-which also leads to her tipping it over & watcing the water pour onto her highchair table! The problem is I fill it basically all the way up so she can get some out by only tipping it a little, however then its heavier & harder for her to tip. We'll figure it out though I guess!
I have 1 with a straw that she just chewed on, but I only gave it to her a couple of times. Maybe I should keep trying with that one too-but she just didn't get that water was supposed to come out of that one at all!
