Tea tree oil

I was given a bottle and told I can make a safe CD solution for when I go to full time cloth wipes.  I tried looking for any info on this in the FAQ and searched a little.

i don't have anything constructive to add, but thought i'd say that i think tea tree oil smells amazing!

I just got a small squirt bottle (like the kind you get in the health and beauty section), filled it with water, put 4 or so drops of TT oil, a few drops of lavender oil, and a small squirt of baby wash and just shook it before using.  I then sprayed it on the wipes or the bum, depending on which made more sense for that diaper change

I wet a few wipes at a time, put them in my wipes warmer, and add a few drops of TTO when I can't smell it any more.

Silly question - what is the purpose of the tea tree oil?  Smell?  Disinfecting?  I already have tea tree oil in the house since I use it for acne treatment, but I didn't know it had CD applications!
