We have decided on Charlotte. We have also decided on nn of Charlie. Let me note that I realize these names are both common the popularity does not bother me and we don't know any kids with these names.
I do not like any alternative nn like Char or Lotte, we are set on Charlie
DH wants to girl up Charlie by spelling it Charley or Charlea....I say stay with the original and though more boyish Charlie as I am not a fan of odd spellings. WDYT?
Re: Which spelling
I would girl up the nickname. My daughters name is rylan and we were going to spell it more girly such as rilyn or rylin. However, we went with normal spelling and now people assume she is a boy or get her name wrong.
I love the NN Charlie for Charlotte, my hubby hates it, which means Charlotte is permanently off the list, long or short.
Spell it Charlie
Proud Mama to cleft cutie
Ditto
I think Charlie is cute.
My brain wants to pronounce Charley as "Shar-lee" and Charlea as "Shar-lay" though there's really no rhyme nor reason that I would attribute an "sh" sound to the "Ch" when Charlie stays the same.
Hmmm.
Definitely keep it Charlie.
This will be a common nickname for girls in her generation. Other spellings just look cutesy/uneek.
