Rotavirus??? Help!

Anyone's lo have rotavirus? I'm not sure that's what we have but it sure sounds like it and we are day #4 of diarrhea!! She's doing great with it and honestly you would never know she doesn't feel well until she is actually going but boy o boy is it sad to see!!  We're up a couple times a night just changing her diaper poor girl.  ANyone have any tips or at least can relate to where I'm coming from?

Re: Rotavirus??? Help!

  • Watch closely for signs of dehydration.  Try to push extra fluids and maybe give some Prdialyte.  You should call your pediatrician to see what they suggest.  I hope your LO feels better soon!

  • Thanks mesmom....I did speak with peds and as long as she is hydrated and acting normally there isn't anything they can do!  I'm breastfeeding but I am putting pedialyte in the formula for the cereal.  She looks great but it's killing her mom!  Just didn't know if anyone had any tips to shorten the length of these thing.

And if you..as the parents, got the virus...I hope not, will be just in time for Christmas

  • My pedi told me that adults don't usually get the virus because most of us have immunity to it. . . I hope he's right.  I'm glad to hear that your pedi is not worried.  It sounds like you're doing everything you should be.  My LO had a bad reaction (vomitting and dry heaves) to the rotavirus vaccine, and my pedi suggested giving her bottles of pedialyte to supplement her breastfeeding.  Kellymom.com suggests breastfeeding and no pedialyte.  I ended up giving my LO some because she loved it.  I'm sure it's so hard to see your baby having to go through this.  Hopefully she'll be better soon!
