Baby Names

Because it's DEAD on all the boards...

Maybe because I'm bored and that makes my mind wander, but has anyone else noticed the amount of twin naming posts we've had in the last week or two? Doesn't it seem like more than usual? And what with all the pg with multiples fakers there have been in the past, it makes me suspicious.

Not that it matters... Cause at least they're creating posts for me to read. :-P

edited for spelling. Stupid iPad.

  • I'm always a little bit wary of twin posts. I feel bad, because I'm sure the majority of them are real. But man, have we been burned by trolls here on BNB in the past.
  • There are three women in my office right now who are expecting twins.... and I don't work in a huge office. So who knows.... sudden surge in multiples?

  • I've heard this mentioned before. I don't see the point in faking a twin pregnancy to get baby names, or attention. If you are going to go for it, why not say its at least quads or something? lol

  • Rather off-topic, but my cousin just had triplets naturally, owing no doubt to twins being common in both branches of the family. I thought that was crazy, as to have triplets occur naturally as such seems so uncommon to me, but -- wow!
  • Every time I open a post on here with the word "Twins" in the title, I always find myself wondering whether it was an actual post or just some troll making a MUD post. However, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so I just decided to chalk it up to the higher number of people who resorting IVF b/c from what I understand a woman has a higher chance of getting PG with twins or multiples that way.

  • I'm not faking! Smile Don't have time to worry about the names of faux children.

We used Clomid for this IUI cycle. It raises your chance of having twins from 1% to 8%.

  • I was just thinking the same thing the other day. Yet, many of the twins posts are rather boring, so I assume they're real. I'm not saying the names are bad or anything, but why would you go through the trouble of posting MUD when you're not even going to make it fun?

Yeah, I should have added that my post wasn't directed at any one specifically. Just in general the increase I've noticed. And I'm not detective-y enough to figure out who is a faker and who isn't. I wait for others to uncover the scandals for me! ;)

I agree.  I am also not faking.  If you're posting a question on twins and it was truly MUD, it should be an outrageous question!

  • I like reading the twin posts.  I am a twin.  There are a lot more twins now.  It's less special (to me).

Only fraternal twins are hereditary.  Identical twins are not.  But, with IVF etc. you get fraternal twins.  So it's hard to know what "causes" the twins.  Not that it matters.  But my aunt, who has IVF twins, tells everyone how twins run in her family b/c of me and my sister....and that makes me feel like she is lying.  B/c yes, we are in her family, but that's not what caused my cousins to be twins.  AND she calls them The Twins all the time.  Twins HATE being called The Twins.  We have names.

My sister's friend got IVF and had 2 embryos implanted, and one split....so she has identical twin girls plus a boy.  It happens!

The Dionne quintuplets were identical, all 5 of them!  Imagine!  One egg splitting that many times!
