Breastfeeding

Caffeine

Anyone else can't go without coffee/tea? I wonder how much is too much for a breast feeding mama? How many are you having a day?

Re: Caffeine

  • I think kellymom has info on this. I started having 1 cup a day after I nursed DS. I think he was probably a month old when I started (but I also had 1 cup a day pg). Now I can have two cups in the morning and it still doesn't seem to effect him (2 8oz cups). I think 300 mg is the limit.

  • I have a cup or two of coffee and a couple of other drinks a day.  I am so exhausted from being up all night I don't know how I would stay awake without it.  I do cut out the caffeine during the night.

  • I have quite a bit a day.  Like 1.5-2 cups in the morning and at least another cup in the afternoon.  I try to time it, especially if I'm at work, and pump right before I have a cup, but I haven't noticed any impact on DD one way or the other.

  • It affects my LO..so I only have a cup when I absolutely need it to function..otherwise, I go without..and drink lots of water to try to keep goin
  • I'm an iced tea drinker and drink a fair amount each day if I am out.  Usually I'll get a large one from McDonalds if I am out running around.
