Preemies

Preparing to bring LO home.

Assuming that at some point we will actually bring our LO home (cause some days it feels like it will never happen) I am going to use this next weekend to try and get as much stuff ready for her homecoming since I have an extra day off from working.
I have found the whole baby gear/supplies completely overwhelming. Everyone has opinions and advice on what you need and don?t need. So I thought I would ask other preemie moms if they have any favorite items that they absolutely couldn?t live without. I have most of the basic stuff-crib, car seat, boppy pillows, swing/bouncy chair. I'm looking more for advice on some of the additional items you wouldn't necessarily think of.
Any opinions of items like a diaper genie, bottle warmer, bottle sanitizer thing. Are they necessary?
Thanks for the help. Hopefully getting some input will help me narrow down what I need!

Re: Preparing to bring LO home.

  • I have a diaper genie, but really its just a big garbage can - DH swears it doesnt smell like poop but I generally take her poopy diapers straight outside because I cant stand the stink lol. I use a bottle warmer but its sooo not needed. I prefer it but I freeze and defrost BM and its helpful for that I feel. The only preemie specific thing I couldnt live without was my Fisher Price Rock N Play - DD wouldnt sleep anywhere but in my arms when she came home and that combined with reflux had us alternating sleeping on the couch with her on our chests everynight - everyone on here recommended the RnP and I was a very happy mommy when i got it! She still uses it today but not to sleep in.

  • fisher price rock and play sleeper-Best item ever!

Aden and Anais swaddle blankets-Since DS was so little these were also great to fold up in the bouncy/swing/RnP

Sleep sheep on the go by Cloud B-we used this in the NICU and still use it today

DS had/still has reflux so burp cloths and water proof bibs (carters and gerber make good ones)

  • Rock n' Play really is great! One thing I've noticed is that you can never have enough changing table covers or burp cloths. Our sound machine has been a life saver on a few occasions
