Growling

A few days ago DS started a growling/grunting combo. While it was hilarious at first, now its a tad creepy ;) He does it all.day.long.

Please tell me my kid isn't possessed and your kid does it too?

Re: Growling

  • Yep, ds#2 sounds like a wild animal sometimes! I don't remember this with ds#1, but it could just be parental selective memory!

  • Ugh yes.  DS just started this.  I am a teacher for 3 year olds and I have a bunch of them that are into growling/grunting right now.  On Friday, between DS and the students, I said "don't growl at me" too many times to count!

  • Yes, my daughter started doing it around 4 months... we call it "beast mode" after Nyjer Morgan of the Brewers.... (she started around the time they were in the playoffs)...

  • Constantly. His nickname is "monster" so it's actually appropriate.

  • One of my friend's LOs is a growler. They asked their pedi about it, and their pedi said it's normal/fairly common. :)

  • I'm glad to hear other moms say this! Our DS has been making a weird sound lately that I was having a tough time describing. But it totally is a "growl". Does your LO's growling tend to escalate into crying? Or is it just something they do for fun? DS seems to eventually get to crying if I'm unable to respond to his growling quickly enough (if I'm driving or whatever).

This cracked be up. We've been calling him D-Rex (instead of T-rex because his name begins with D)

    ;)

  • Yep, same here. Izzy grunts sometimes out of frustration  and sometimes, just because she can. ((shrugs))

  • Yes, mine has done it since he was 4 months and sounds like a little bear cub.

  • Yep - Andrew went through a phase where he did that for a week or two, but he hasn't done it since.  It was definitely funny/weird/creepy.

  • My sweet DD sounds if she is possessed when she growls also!  She is sick and I thought she was trying to clear her throat but she does it all the time! lol
