Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What are you doing with old toys etc

I am wondering what is everyone doing with their old toys, clothes etc. I have tryed selling her exersaucer, swing, bassinet, and bouncey chairs for cheap but nothing.  Also i have so many clothes and little toys that i have no clue what to do with. DD doesnt use her huge box of toys shes more into crawling and getting into stuff that she's not allowed plus its Christmas and she's getting a ton of big girl toys, and literally my living room and storage is packed. I would like to get atleast a few dollars for these things just to put towards buying her new stuff (hopefully!!) So what have you done with everything?

  • Saving them for LO #2

I have Rubbermaid boxes tagged by age range (0-6 mo, 6-12 mo, etc) and will go to those boxes in the future when I need them with the next baby. We got mostly gender-neutral toys and equipment (especially the big ticket items) so we will be able to re-use most of the stuff the next time around.

  • I saved ds#1's things for ds#2. As ds#2 is outgrowing things, I'm donating clothes to Goodwill and selling toys to Once Upon A Child.
  • I've been donating most everything to a friend who just had twins last week. Getting their babies was a monumental financial investment for them and they're extremely grateful for any handouts they get.

They've taken our infant car seats and bases, 4 oz bottles and random refused bottles, a bunch of seats, toys and a huge mountain of clothes off our hands.

I've already started another box of clothes and toys and my mom's getting stuff together that DS has outgrown at her house so I'll have a load of stuff to take to her right about the time that they get home from the NICU.

  • I'm hanging onto our favorites and selling/ giving away anything else.

Both of our mothers are compulsive shoppers so I have no doubt if/when we have #2 the new baby will not want or need for anything.

  • Were also saving for future children. When we are done, we will sell/donate.

  • As PPs have mentioned, we are hanging on to the favorites and the ones we are attached to and then selling the rest to Once Upon a Child or donating to Goodwill.

  • I saved all of DD1's clothes in Rubbermaid containers and kept all toys and baby gear.  DD2 is our last baby, so I sold all of my maternity clothes and the things she had outgrown in a local church consignment sale.  They have another sale in the spring and I will put more in that sale.  She just outgrew her infant seat, so I am selling the travel system and extra base on Craigslist.
