i was just wondering if anyone used tucks and took them to the hospital with you or just used at home? How long do they last? im tempted to just buy some now so i have them when the time comes. I was also wondering if its better to wear depends than pads? I'd feel kinda stupid wearing depends but i think i'd be less worried wearing that than a pad.
for coming home from the hospital, i was gonna put baby in one of those snowsuits with the hole in it for the carseat belt. is that ok for newborns?
Re: anyone use tucks or depends after delivery?
You can use tucks or just get witch hazel and gauze pads and use those, it works the same, it will help wtih both hemmheroids if you get/have any any as well as stitches if you have any. At our hospital we use depends for the first 24 ish hours but after that your bleeding really slows down and extra long heavy day pads are fine.
No that snowsuit is NOT safe for any child. Please do some reading, One the straps cannot be tightened appropriately when the baby is in a bulky snowsuit, also the hole buckle is not good because its hard to tell if babys legas are thru the apprpriate spots, this can be very very unsafe. Just use blankets over the baby or get one of the shower cap style seat covers, both options allow baby to be beckled in safely and do not interfere with the straps.
What she said. Spot on!
I used Tucks for about 2 weeks PP. They reallllllly helped with the irritation, which burned 24/7 from my tear and stitches.
I had really bad incontinence and peed on myself for 2 weeks. I would realize that I had to go, and boom- peed myself. Ha. I would definitely recommend a large pad or depends.
Also, my recovery was NOT normal, so don't be frightened. I had lots of complications. Bring home all the hospital supplies- hospital underwear, pads, ice packs, formula, peri bottle... everything!
Ask your hospital for EpiFoam. It is a mousse that completely numbs your bottom. I even brought some home. BEST THING EVER!!!
