how did i get this and how do i heal?

my dd is almost 6 months and i'm just starting to get a raw spot on my nipples where her upper gums go.  (no teeth up top yet)  it's to the point where i'm afraid they'll tear open when i pump or nurse.  it hurts when i pump but it burns when she nurses bc it's like a sore.  ouch!

any ideas on what these spots are from and how do i help them heal?  i'm putting breastmilk on after each pump/nurse session.

She could be teething and it might be affecting her latch. Have you tried nursing in a different position? That might help to give that spot some relief so it can heal.

I put lanohlin on my breat and on a nursing pad so it doesnt get further bothered by rubbing on my bra. Like pp said try a different position.

I just developed this over the weekend- we have thrush. Make sure your baby doesn't have thrush in her mouth.
