i'm only wondering because it'd be nice if i could give him more than avocado, sweet potato/carrots, all that.....
can i just basically puree up my dinner (as long as it's not spicy) and feed it to him!?
oh and i know this is coming across as a stupid question but i'm just wondering whether he is okay to eat really whatever and stay away from the allergy foods or just give him a few things now and wait till he's 9 months to try more?
TIA!
Re: (other than honey, strawberries...etc) is there anything DS can't eat?
The current AAP recommendation is to avoid peanuts, honey and cows milk before 1. Strawberries are totally fine.
We started DS a little late on solids so I am now realizing I need to get brave and try some finger food instead of just purees but here's what he has had so far:
Veggies: corn, carrots, asparagus, peas, potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, avocado, cauliflower, spinach,
Fruit: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, pineapple, banana, mango, grape(pureed obviously so no choking hazard), pomegranate, peach, pear, cantaloupe, prune, apple.
Cereal: Oatmeal, Mixed grain, wheat, corn, white rice (not by itself though - in the mixed cereal I am trying to keep him with whole grains)
Treats: banana rice rusks.
You can try new food every 3 days. No need to wait until 9 months.
My Dr didn?t give us any restrictions. I have given her peanut butter and she has done fine with it. The only thing he suggested was give her a taste of it and see if she breaks out and if she doesn?t try it again and if she doesn?t break out then she is fine to have peanut butter. I have also given her strawberries and ice cream and so far no issues.
This... DD1 has always loved spicier foods... even as an infant. I noticed she went through a period of refusing a lot of foods and quickly realized it was because we were giving her bland stuff and she preferred bites of what we ate. To this day she will go to town on some fairly spicy salsa.
DS started reaching for our food about a month ago (at 7 months). I started giving him little pieces of everything we eat. He eats everything. So far we are avoiding honey, whole milk and peanuts. We are giving him everything else.
I still use some purees. Mostly I use the fruit to top toast for DS. Yummy apple toast!
