DD gets a pacifier at naptime and bedtime and if we are somewhere where she really needs to be quiet (like during the sermon at synagogue). She was getting one in the carseat too but I've been cutting that out slowly. (And when I turn around and she suddenly has one because she found it somewhere in the apartment.)
I had hoped to get rid of it by 1 year. I would love her not to be using it when she says her first word. But realistically, it's a big help in getting her to sleep so I'm ok keeping it around for now. But she is not allowed to walk around with it and talk while it's in her mouth. It is so bad for speech production and I'm just not a fan of kids walking around with pacifiers all the time.
Addison only gets it for nap time and bed times. I was really hoping to get it gone by her first b-day but that doesn't look like that is happening. We are trying to get her to calm herself down at night so we can put her to bed awake but that isn't going to well.
At this point she only gets the binks when we're out and she's getting crazy or for bed. We're trying to wean her slowly, and she's gradually 'needing' it less... it falls out of her mouth almost immediately after she falls asleep, for instance.
If she's still using it at 2 we'll take it away, but at this point I just can't bring myself to care. I know that probably makes me negligent but whatever.
DD only gets it during sleep times. This includes naps, night time, and car rides. She sleeps like a dream in the car, so I usually give the paci to encourage that sleepy feeling.
I have no idea when we're going to get rid of it. H hates seeing her with it (but he sure doesn't mind her STTN), but he's not the one that has to get up with her at night so I think in the long run it'll be my decision on when to pull the plug.
DS gets it at naptime and bedtime. He seems to not need it as much, but I am scared to take it away completely. I always thought he would be done with it at one. We will see.

Yes DD gets a pacifier. Mostly at naptime and bedtime. I plan to get rid of it soon, and I will do the same with her that I did with older DD. We took it away cold turkey, she had some fussy nights but I would just go in her room and sing to her and rub her back. DD1 had stop wanting the pacifier after 3 days.
W would never take the pacifer, and I kept trying to tell her that it is supposed to help with SIDS, but she would just not listen.
I'm having a hard enough time getting rid of the bottle, I don't know how you guys do it with a pacifier too!
THIS!
Neither of my kids wanted anything to do with the pacifier. We have about 20 that sit in the playroom and get thrown at things. I never tried to get Aiden to like it but I did with Emily, they just didn't care for it.

Nap & bedtime, there is one in the car but she doesn't really use it anymore. Also, at night if she is super fussy I cave and give it to her.
I think we'll wait until she is closer to 18-24 mo to stop the bedtime paci. We just eliminated bottles so 1 step at a time.

DD uses her paicfier at naptime and bedtime only. I don't think she really needs it, but we don't have a problem with her using it now.
Today's Sesame Street was about giving up the pacifier.
