Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Recommend your food processor

I am getting ready to soon make some baby food. Many ppl have suggested to skip the baby food machines and just go with a food processor since it is more practical. Thinking of heading to Macy's tomorrow and will probably buy a Cuisinart brand. Please help me with this. How many cups do I really need? a 3 cup? 4 cup, etc. If you have one what do you like about it and does it do exactly what you need? TIA I just want to buy something that will get the job done.

Re: Recommend your food processor

  • I have a good ol' Black and Decker.

It does exactly what I need, and the price was right.

  • I'm all about not spending too much on stuff I don't really need. I got a $10 rival chopper at walmart. It's 2 cups. For me, it makes enough for a decent size batch. I like that it is small and easy to clean. My friend said something simple and brillent, the bigger the container, the more food you need to make at once. Since you are never really sure what your LO will like, I recommend the small size.
  • I bought a basic Hamilton Beach Blender.  The baby food comes out perfect and so do my margaritas.  Yes

On the flip side, once you know what your kid likes, it's nice to be able to make big batches. Just because I have an 8 cup processor doesn't mean you have to fill it up. For $30, it was defiintely worth it!

  • I use the Cuisanart 4 cup food processor for our big batches of food.  For day to day stuff I use the Kitchen Bullet.  I like the bullet because it is soooo easy to clean and makes a good amount.  We already had both because I like making milkshakes with the bullet (the regular one not the baby one) and we use the food processor for our regular cooking.  I definitely recommend either as they are dual function in our world.

  • I just use a blender.  DD didn't eat purees long, she was on full table food by 10 months and DS has already started on table food so it wasn't worth it for me to invest in another appliance.
