Change in MY diet to help with LO's constipation?

My DD has had trouble pooping since she was about 3 months old.  At 4-5 months (prior to starting solids), she was only pooping once every 5-8 days, but she never seemed uncomfortable so the doc said that it was normal for a BF baby.  Since she started solids at 5 1/2 months she has struggled with constipation.  She was only going once every 5-7 days while eating 3 meals a day and she struggled a lot to go.  Pedi suggested that we start her on miralax which we have done for over a month now and helps a lot.  However, she still struggles sometimes and her poops are still pretty hard.  We have done everything that is suggested as far as her diet...no rice, bananas, oatmeal, applesauce, etc...  She eats tons of peaches, pears, prunes, apricots and green vegetables.  I also have her taking probiotics and we just added in flax oil as well.  I am pretty much out of ideas!  I was wondering if there could be something that I could consider cutting out of my diet to possibly help her.  Any thoughts??

  • I can't speak to what you could do with your diet.  But our LO went through a bout of constipation once he really upped the volume of food he was eating.  In addition to what you have mentioned we also avoided the BRAT foods, bananas, applesauce, rice (including rice cereal), and toast at the recommendation of our pedi, and pushed water. If the poops are hard getting more fluids in may help, keep a sippy cup handy and constantly offer water.  We never did it, but I wonder about watered down prune juice given lots throughout the day.  GL
