Falling asleep in the crib . . .

Hi Ladies,

My LO is now 6.5 months, and I have been working on his schedule the past month.  I read Secrets of the Baby Whisperer, which is awesome by the way!  I've gotten him to sleep through the night and also stretched his feeds.

So, my last order of business is getting this little man to bed earlier and without rocking.  We've rocked him every night since he was born because he needed to be kept upright after his feeds anyway.  But it seems like he's at the age where he doesn't need to be rocked until he's "limp baby" asleep ha.

Currently he takes his last bottle around 9 and goes down around 10:30, which is way too late.  Any tips on training them to fall asleep on their own?  At what age did reflux moms stop worrying about elevating them after each bottle?

TIA!

Re: Falling asleep in the crib . . .

  • were 9  month (5 adjusted) and I still keep DD upright after feeds, I'll do it until she is not showing any reflux symptoms. Until a few months ago, she would go down for the night around 10:30 - we dont schedule her at all and let her dictate when she goes down and when she eats. On her own she started to sleep earlier and earlier and now shes asleep around 8pm and sleeps until around 8am. I dont rock DD to sleep everynight because she doesnt always like it but she falls asleep in my arms all the time. I hold her until i need to do something else and then put her in her basinett.

  • He is old enough now that you my have created a habit that is more difficult to break. Just be consistent and keep trying.  Highly recommend Healthy sleep Habits, Happy Child.  Both of my kids STTn at 7 weeks adjusted and put themselves to sleep.
