Reassurance please (cervix)

Hi Ladies!

The boys have been mercilessly attacking my cervix lately.  One of them is usually resting on it or hitting, but today they are both using it as a punching bag.  It feels like they are going to just slide right out if I uncross my legs or when I get up to go to the restroom.  I have my appointment with the MFM tomorrow, so I'll have my cervix checked then.  Since we started doing the cervical checks at 16 wks, I've been over 4 cm each time.  But now I'm feeling a lot of pressure down there and have noticed a slight increase in discharge.  Ugh...  I've been following all my "orders" - staying hydrated, modified bed rest, complete pelvic rest, and received one of my many 17p shots today.

I know that there is no way to tell until my appt in the morning, but I guess I just need to hear from those of you who experienced this unrelenting attack on the cervix and didn't have problems with dilation.

TIA

  • Me too!  My boys have been all over my cervix and the pressure is insane when I stand and walk and ok when I sit or lay down.  My cervix was dilated to 1 last visit and thursday is my next appt.   Im scared, but she said they are still pretty high up and put me on pelvic rest and modified bed rest.   I can relate with that feeling as if they are going to pop out with jazz hands any minute.  I will be anxiously waiting to hear what your MFM says.  Hope its uneventful.  Your not alone, my friend.

Ok, now I think I am going to go into labor for laughing so hard!

Thanks Chris - I'll be sure to post as soon as I get back.  I'm a little freaked b/c I didn't dilate at all with DD1 until I was several hours into labor (40wks 5 d), then was suddenly 1 cm dilated at 33 wks 5d with DD2 before I started having regular  contractions.

  • No bed rest for me yet but I feel your pain!!!!  I can't even do the Christmas shopping because it hurts to walk.  Next appointment on the 28th.

     Good luck ladies.

  • During my cervical length check today little miss was kicking my cervix like crazy. The tech actually showed me the babies and took some pictures for me while waiting for her to stop because my cervix was getting smushed and then popping back to normal hahahaha I think at 28 weeks more pressure with twins is probably going to happen no matter what you're situation....fingers crossed your cervix is the same and it's just normal weight/pressure with twins!

OMG that is really funny but also soooo true. I called my MoM friend the first night it got really bad (prob around 30w?) asking if it was normal- I was so scared Baby A was literally going to poke her head out and say hi!

I'm glad to read this thread- makes me feel better about the constant pounding I've had since then. Good luck ladies!
