Common courtesy says that, if the situation allows for it, the slower person lets the faster person by so they don't have to wait on you, whether that's on a track, at the grocery store, on a sidewalk, wherever.

Common courtesy says you say, "Excuse me" if you need to get past someone. I am sure the OP would have gladly moved her LO had the woman asked her to. It would have likely taken less time too.

This! We're not mind readers. If you need to get by you say, "excuse me."

I am way late to this and no one will probably read it but COME ON you have to be a mind reader to know that someone might have to walk down an aisle you are in? Really?!?!?!? So you are the shoppers that put their cart on one side of the aisle while you stand directly across from it, effectively, blocking the entire aisle? Or the shopper who stands directly in front of the cards so that people have to go around you to get a card instead of YOu being nice and stepping aside? I suspect the OP is being a little dramatic when she tells the story....in her favor, of course.

Team Shopper over here.  Kids, even yours, need to know that they are not the most important thing in the room at all times, and to GTFOut of folks' way sometimes. You are wrong here, kiddo.

Yep.  I'd be wicked annoyed if some parent was letting their kid dawdle through the aisle too. There are lots of places where little preshus can explore, but Target? Really?

  • I bet the OP gets all butthurt and offended when her precious snowflake isn't invited to every event she's invited to.

I would not have pegged this as a drama-filled, flaming red dot topic.

    Merry Christmas....?

Right? I can understand people disagreeing but I find the rudeness is really uncalled for.

     Totally. Merry Effing Christmas errybody.

    For real.

I think the haters are being ridiculous. The OP clarified that she & DS weren't taking up the whole aisle and/or dawdling. The shopper could've said "excuse me" either way.

Even if they were blocking the way for more than a few seconds, the shopper taking it out on a toddler was ridiculous. The toddler doesn't know these things, so the shopper should've taken out her frustrations on the parent if they weren't being courteous by moving aside. It's the parents responsibility to ensure their children are courteous in public, &  barreling down on a small child is uncalled for.
