I have to vent and figured this was the place to do it. My BIL is an idiot. Nice enough guy just generally bad at life. He was fortunate enough to find a woman who is equally bad at life and now they are getting married next year. I could write for days to explain all of the things that make them both bad at life but I won't bore you with details! Let's just say, immature, selfish and VERY bad with money. Anyway, my BIL calls my DH the other day and says that they bought a gift for Ava. My DH says great, we will see you at Christmas and you can give it to her then. BIL says they would like to see us beforehand because it is a dress that they picked out for her to wear on Christmas. Thankfully my DH is all over this and said that while it was really nice for them to pick something like that out, holiday dresses or costumes (depending on the holiday) are the mom's job to pick and that I had already gotten her a dress to wear. (side note to keep in mind, BIL is 32, BIL's fiancee is 35, so they aren't dumb kids). Now, future SIL is not coming to Christmas brunch because she said it's rude that I want DD to wear the dress I got her. I offered to put her in their dress and take pics so they had a memento of it, but said if they take it back they can probably get their money back because I would hate to see it go to waste since she would only be wearing it for a short time. Nope, still not good enough so they are not coming! What an a-hole.
OK vent over! Thanks!
Re: SIL Vent
I have to laugh at this...they sound so clueless! I really liked your suggestion of putting her in it and takings pics, so let them pout about it and not come to Christmas. It sounds like you might have a better time without them anyway.
LOL yeah they're dumb. Good for your DH to already be on top of things and say that special occasions and costumes are your pick...smart! So wierd of them to get all upset about this....I agree with PP, you will probably have a better time without them.
Now if I can just figure out a way to get my brother and his fiance to skip our Christmas....lol.
This was something that they should've ran by you first. Them buying a dress & somewhat demanding you to put it on your child is very presumptuous of them. Maybe it's best they don't come over. LOL!
Not sure if this is sarcasm??
If so, yes I'm sure the dress is beautiful, as is the one that I bought her.
totally sarcasm...ahah sorry. i bet it's horrid...
i would bet the one you bought will be adorable!! (not sarcasm) i kinda wish i had a girl just for Xmas so i could dress her up! haha my little boy will have a cute little vest though and i'm really excited!
