At what age is it a good idea to start weaning from the paci? My DD was never into it at all for about the first 4 months of her life. Now as soon as that dumb thing is in her mouth she calms right down. I was pretty excited because I figured it was one habit I was not going to even have to worry about breaking but that doesn't seem to be the case now. I hate to take something from her that obviously works to soothe when she needs it, but I don't know when it's a good time to take it away. I hate to be judgemental but it seems like every time I turn around there is a kid who is walking and talking and still has a binky in their mouth. I think it's wierd!! I know at 6 months my DD isn't there yet but I don't want her to pop her binky out of her mouth to order her lunch then pop it back in because I waited to long to take it from her! haha!
Re: stupid paci!!
Lurker here. DS isn't due until March, but I already know he will be weaned (if he takes one) around the talking/walking stages. DH has a niece who is almost 3 and still has a binky 24/7. She screams if anyone tries to take it from her. It's so ridiculous that she talks with it in her mouth and has developed a speech impediment because of it. Her idiot parents would prefer to keep that thing shoved in her mouth than deal with another bratty kid (they already have one who's 8). But I digress...
Best of luck in weaning, and know that it could be much worse!
