sappy time of year

Being so very pregnant is not helping my mood during this already-sappy time of year. Christmas specials on tv...even commercials...make me teary-eyed. On top of it, I find myself thinking of negative things instead of focusing on the positive. Earlier, I was creeping on facebook (when I knew I shouldn't!) to see what fun things friends were doing ... like drinking and partying (I even creeped my ex's holiday party photos...what's wrong with me?!) All this made me feel a little sorry for myself. Not like me at all! I feel like I need to snap out of this bad mood funk but it's hard. And I'm not sleeping well which doesn't help. Any tips on how to snap out of it? Or any one else feeling moody or self-destructive, too?

  • I know the feeling.  There's a nagging part of me that keeps saying "wouldn't it be nice to have a Christmas baby?" even though I'd only be 35 weeks along. >.>;

    Try to focus on what you get to do this year.  If you don't have anything special planned, make some plans!  Even if those plans are something simple like baking a batch of cookies or snuggling with a pet, it's still what you get to do this Christmas.  If you have something to look forward to, it becomes easier to detach yourself from the holiday blues.

  • When I find myself in a funk, I try to change my environment. Go for a walk or something. The fresh air will help as well.
