VBAC

I have a ?

So,

I have a 3.5 year old daughter who I had natural, 11 hours of labor (water broke on own) and 15 minutes of pushing!

I also have a 4 month old son who I had a csection with...due to "large" baby. He was 10lbs 14 oz, 22.5 inches long. With NO gd.

I was wondering if any of you moms out there have had a "BIG" baby and attempted a VBAC after? I heard babies are supposed to just get bigger after each one, and I would LOVE to have a VBAC one day...since I had my daughter natural and know what it feels like to have had an easier recovery?

Im not pregnant now but would like some input if I can even be a candidate for a VBAC? I have a low transverse incision line, no problems with csection really.

Thanks ladies!!

  • My DS was 10 lbs 2 oz (and I did not have GD either).  DD was 8 lbs 5 oz.  People always say they just get bigger but I know just as many people whose next child was smaller as those who had a bigger one.  I also know many people who have vaginally birthed "big" babies.

I'd say you'd be a great candidate especially since you have already had a successful vaginal birth.

sorry to jump in on the op's question...but it may go along with it :)

Did you have any idea that your DD would be smaller prior to the birth? Did she feel smaller or about the same? Im counting down to my VBAC attempt after a 9.6 baby and wondering if the pregnancy felt different for you?

  • Since you've already had a vaginal birth, you make a great VBAC candidate.  Did you go into labor and get stalled with your DS?

  • I actually had an elective csection "for big baby" which now i wish i hadnt..but it was a week and a day after my duedate when i had my csection! my dr wouldnt induce because i was not favorable and that i wasnt going into labor on my own =/
  • My friend had a 10+ pound baby with her first- no GD either. My friend was over 10 pounds when she was born, her husband was 12, so I guess those genes just make big babies. She had a c-section with #1 after labour stalled- baby wouldn't drop. She was determined to have a VBAC and delivered baby #2, an 11 pounder, after four hours of labour and 15 minutes of pushing.
