Exercise and RLP/Pelvic Pain

Does anyone else have a problem with pain down in the pelvic region when they exercise?  Walking seems to be the worst at causing it.  I'll start walking and I feel fine, then gradually my ligaments start hurting or my pelvis starts aching.  Once I stop and rest, it goes away.  My OB said it's normal and it's just everything adjusting to the weight of the baby and getting ready for delivery, so I'm not concerned about it, just annoyed.

Most of all, does anyone know how I can relieve it enough to keep exercising or have any ideas on exercises I can do that won't cause pain?

Re: Exercise and RLP/Pelvic Pain

  • i was having the pelvic pain last week and went to the chiro and in one adjustment the pain was gone.  i think i'm going to go again this week.

as far as exercises go there are plenty that you can do.  i would recommend checking a book out of the library about pregnant exercises, or get a pg yoga/exercise DVD and then modify them so that you aren't in pain.  for ex you could work upper body no problem and then sit for lower body.

  • I see a Physical Therapist for my pelvic.  They adjust me and I always feel better.   I don't have anything to help on exercise.  I'm okay doing my normal workout, just have made a few small modifications, but I would be in a lot of pain if it wasn't for going to PT.

  • I'm having the same problem with walking! I just switched to the elliptical and bike for cardio. I have tried prenatal yoga DVDs and I think they all suck...
  • I had a similar problem with walking and it seemed to get worse the more I grew. I do more no impact options and I find that other low impact aerobics don't cause quite as much discomfort.
  • This only happens to me after running. I am going to a chiropractor to help gets things more in alignment and put inserts in my shoes. Those two in combo seem to help.
