Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Good source of info on resetting wake time?

My little guy has to get up at 5am to go to daycare during the week.  He goes to bed consistently at 6:30 and it was working fine for two months.  Now he has started getting up at 4am to play which just doesn't work for obvious reasons.  For the last week we have tried keeping him up later to help him sleep till 5 but with no luck.  Does anyone have a link or book suggestion on information on resetting wake up times?

Re: Good source of info on resetting wake time?

  • Even if you do not like his sleep training method, the Ferber book has a lot of info on sleep and what different things would cause a sleep problem like this. Its a good read that does but does not mean you have to do his cio methods. It may help you figure out what adjustments to make. Ive also heard somewhere to keep things dark and then at the time you want them up, take them outside to expose them to natural light for a minute, and that resets their biological clock. Good luck, hopefully it is just a phase, but if not the Ferber book may help.

  • This is SO ME!!! She gets up at 4:00ish. I change her, feed her and put her back down put her back in the crib with a toy. She fuss's a little but plays and eventulally goes back to sleep. I go in when I get up at 5:45.... If she cries, I let her go a minute or 2 but never longer becasue she will never go back down. I go back in and calm her. She eventually gets it is still bedtime and GO BACK TO SLEEP!!! lol

  • Definitely Ferber. His. Book is excellent and really only has a chapter or two about crying. The rest is good sleep information.
