Cough?

DS developed a cough yesterday and it has gotten progressively worse since yesterday morning.  He still slept pretty decently (considering) last night but I heard him up coughing several times (maybe 7-8 times), but never for long periods of time and he was always able to go back to sleep after a couple of coughs.  He's had croup and I don't believe it's that kind of cough.  I also don't believe it's a whooping cough kind of cough.  He is slightly congested, but nothing like he has had in the past so I am surprised the cough has come on like this.  We use a humidifier every night, his mattress is elevated (though that does not matter at all because he is all over the bed at night anyways), and we're putting him a hot, steamy bathroom.  We have not been using saline and sucking his nose with the nasal bulb syringe (because I haven't felt like there was much up there).  Any suggestions to help him out?  Should I start using the saline?  Would you call the pedi about this?

I'm sorry he's not feeling well.

We're going through this exact thing with DS. We did take him in just because we wanted to rule out anything worse than what it is - a cold. I don't regret taking him in at all.

Hope he feels better soon!

Oh, and we were told "saline and bulb suction". But again, I would go in just in case.
