Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Never wished I was a man...

...until I had a baby.

But I think it would be pretty sweet now. For instance, I could go out and party with my guys on Saturday night knowing I could sleep in because the wife always takes the baby in the morning anyway... even when she's been up late listening to me ramble at 2 am when I get in drunk.

And I could be totally w/e about taking the baby to church with no nap because even if he flips the f out, she'll be the one who has to run to the nursery to calm him down. I could say helpful things like "Just try, it will be fine! I told everyone you were coming!"

And I could use her car the night before and then leave her without gas even though said baby screams like a banchee on car rides and even more so when he sees her pumping gas in 20 degrees while he's chillin' in his nice warm car seat.

Yup. Being a dude would be pretty sweet right now.

Sorry. /rant

  • Maybe you wouldn't need to be a man if your husband stopped acting like a teenager.

My DH doesn't sleep in on weekends. I do. It's nice being a woman in my house.

  • Yeah, it sounds like your husband is being a jerk.  That kind of thing doesn't happen in my house.  Maybe you need to have a conversation about how a marriage should be an equal partnership.

  • That really stinks. You should try taking turns sleeping in at least. I know it's tough, but just hand your LO over to daddy from time to time and walk away. It annoys my DH when I do it without notice, but mommies need a break too. But yeah, there are days when I'd love to change roles.

  • Thanks for a reply that didn't include assumptions about my husband. I was just blowing off a little steam. My DH is actually really great 99% of the time, but this morning was irritating. I'm a SAHM. My DH takes care of our LO every day when he gets home from work. He can't do mornings because of his job. And because of his military position he often works weekends as well. I get tons of time off in the late afternoons/early evening and he's always telling me to leave our LO with him so I can get some time to myself, but I would love love love to be able to sleep in. He can take over the LO in the morning maybe once or twice a month.

  • Also agree! I SAH and DH is working 10 hour days this month. It sucks for both of us because we're both exhausted but he gets to sleep at night because I can nap, he cant.

  • Arg. Vent away, we all need to sometimes.

  • My guy is a SAHD, so I'll keep being me. Thank you ;-) Although having the post-pg muffin top sucks. Why can't he do that, too?

  • Not all men are jerks, and not all women are angels.
