DH's brothers gf gave birth today at 35.5 weeks. They said the baby can't breath and is on a ventilator. DH's brother and gf are only 17 so they were already scared to begin with but I bet they are freaking out right now. If you could keep baby Hailey in your thoughts I would appreciate it. Also what can I say to her? I'm bad with comforting people but she has come to me for advice before so I know she doesn't have many mom friends for support.

T&Ps are comin' their/you way!  How scary...I don't think there's much you can say to make them feel better perse.  But, you should just reassure them that you'll be their for them for whatever (moral support, a shoulder to vent/cry on, financial?, household help, etc.) When my 35 weeker was born (healthy but low blood sugar), it was so scary.  I was confused, scared and post partum.  Honestly, I tuned everything out except the goings on with my LO until I was told he was safe and healthy (not being a STFU mom, just relaying real life experience).  I hope everything works out.  Again, tons of T&P for the baby and family!  Keep us updated.

Thanks! DH and his brother aren't really close as DH is almost 30 and brother is 17 but obviously he wants to be there for him.

My thoughts are with them.  DS1 was a 34 weeker and it is an incrediably hard thing to deal with.  He had eating and apnea problems.  Tell her to go and touch or hold (if they'll let her) her baby as much as possible.  I can't tell you how many NICU mommy's with little ones who had been in there since 28 weeks told me that it made a world of difference.

I'm pretty sure that Hailey and family just got added to the prayer list I'm on. That story sounds exactly the same. Anywho - lots of T&P coming your way.
