Babies: 6 - 9 Months

baby bullet question...do I need one now?

My LO is 8.5 months old and has a hearty appetite. He eats solids very well and we've been buying the gerber/earth's best baby foods since he started on them. I am thinking about buying a baby bullet but don't know if it will be worth it now given his age. How much longer will he be on mashed/pureed foods? Do any of you ladies have one and do you use it often? Thanks!

  • I have one and I love it!  Today I made peas, oatmeal, brown rice and applesauce.  I also make sweet potatoes, acorn squash, cherries, blueberries, peaches, mangos, green beans, zucchini/squash and chicken.  She has loved everything.  I've started to make things a little thicker with some texture and she's doing well with that.  At this point, I would suggest you just use food processor to see how you like making food. . . However, if you want the Baby Bullet, I don't think you'll be disappointed.  I would suggest buying extra ice cube trays (I love mine from amazon - they are made for baby food.)

  • Just buy a nice blender. Then you can still use it for other stuff.

  • I got mine as a gift and scoffed at first. That said, now I love it! I had always planned on using my food processor for making baby food, but the Baby Bullet is very easy. Baby's only 7 months though.

The selling point for me, though, is that it functions better than my regular expensive blender. I used the baby bullet yesterday for making a basil salad dressing--something my blender can't do and that my food processor can, but is a pain to clean (or take up the whole top rack in the dishwasher).

Bottom line: if you're planning on more kids or if you think you would use it for your own needs, I say go for it (or the regular Magic Bullet)!

  • I really LOVE ours!!! I think it will save us a lot of money down the road too using it!  My LO just started solids and decided to just go with the bullet and make our own vs buying.  From what I've read you can use it for some time, even when they are toddlers etc...they have a recipe on how to make popcycles and stuff.  It comes with two blades for having a different texture.  But if you are concerned about how long you might be using it maybe just try using a regular blender...I'm sure it works the same and just as good.  I just liked the bullet cause it came with a lot of storage containers including storage for to freeze.
