Babies: 6 - 9 Months

another formula question

Hi ladies!  I'm in need of some advice.  I'm fairly new to formula here. LO has be EBF up until about 2 weeks ago.  We plan to be out and about shopping all day so I need to pack some bottles.  We use powdered formula.  What's the best way to pack say, 2-3 bottles?  LO does like her bottle warm, too.  Any suggestions for warming them?    I feel like this should be a no-brainer, but my brain isn't coming up with anything easy!  Help!  TIA Smile

Re: another formula question

  • We pack the bottles and the formula separate and then heat the water to as hot as necessary and then pour it in to a thermos. Then just make the bottles as needed with the sterilized hot water from the thermos. Happy shopping!

There are bottle warmers for the car.

I just fill a bottle w/ water before we leave, and carry powder in a munchkin divided container. I keep an extra bottle of water in the diaper bag on long days.

    It's usually room temp.

This is what we do. I had LO drinking her bottles (breast milk or formula) cold or room temperature frpm the beginning which makes it sooo easy when out and about

  • I just put REALLY hot water into the bottles and by the time he needs it usually is still warm, and then I add my formula. My Skip Hop diaper bag's bottle holders on the purse are insulated and I also have their insulated bottle tote. Either that or I just have it a room temp for him, not a big deal.

  • I take a formula dispenser with me when we go out for a few hours. It holds enough for 3 bottles. DS will take his formula at any temperature now, but when he required it warm, we have a warmer for the car. It plugs into the A/C adapter. We got it at Walmart and it wasn't very expensive. I found that it is much easier to use that than to try to keep water warm for several hours. I also got the dispenser at Walmart, but you can find them at many places that sell formula.

  • I will be buying a formula dispenser today while we're out.  We've got a lot of traveling coming up and this will be sooo helpful!  Thanks for all of the tips ladies!
