Is anyone else on Elecare? & a synagis ?

Can I ask how your insurance is coding it to get it covered?

Ours has been covered by S's disability til now, but she was just moved to our private insurance. They are denying her Elecare.

I am SO frustrated. I've spent hours on the phone- she's 13 months but she isn't on solids - she was just pulled off the two jars a day she was getting b/c of her constipation issues. Any advice? 

In other news: does Synagis make your baby constipated? B/c we are dealing w/major issues w/S where she isn't going for DAYS. We have to go back to the dr this week about it. It started out of nowhere, no change to her diet. The only thing I can think of that is different is the synagis shot.

I am one upset, frustrated mommy over here. Things have been going so well until now.

Hilyer is on Elecare.  He hates it!  I think it's paid for by our insurance because of his feeding tube.  

How do you get S to drink the Elecare?  We use straight Elecare over the pump at night so it's not an issue.  But since we started fortifying his BM with it, he will not take it.  It's smells awful, so I can't really blame him.  

I haven't noticed any side effects from the Synagis shot.  Have you talked to your pedi or GI about adding Miralax to S's daily ritual?  We had to do this for JS for almost 7 months -- 1/2 tsp, twice a day.

PS - did S's disability run out since she turned 1?

It did, it ran out at one. I know you can appeal but our social worker said she wouldn't qualify because Elecare is really all she needs.

She's getting Miralax now but our dr. doesn't want to keep her on it b/c it is making her lose weight. But whenever we pull her off it and add nothing else but pears/prune juice, she immediately gets really constipated again. It's so bad- she's screaming in pain and I can only get her to go if I'm massaging her in a warm bath and even then it's like one hard little marble. It's horrible. I'm just grasping at straws trying to figure out why since she hasn't had any dietary change. We've even cut solids now and this is still happening.

All Scarlette has ever had is Elecare- we found out she was allergic to my breastmilk when she was 5 months old but she was still being tube fed at that time so once she started on a bottle, she was on Elecare. I don't think she's knows how disgusting it is
