Mylicon

My LO is 2 weeks old and we just started (yesterday) using Mylicon to try and help control his gas.

If you have used this how long did it take for you to notice an improvement? Today he has been very fussy after his last two feedings and still is very gassy. We have been giving it to him with every feeding for 24 hours now, just not sure if it should already be working?

Re: Mylicon

  • I can't really answer your question about Mylicon but I can offer some other suggestions to help if you haven't tried them already.

Try wrapping a warm (out of the dryer warm) blanket around his tummy to help alleviate the gas.  Also burp him frequently.  Lastly, try keeping him upright for at least 30 minutes after he eats.

  • Nothing has worked 100%, my babe is still a gas machine! His toots wake me up thru the monitor. All I can say is that he was very sensitive to gas pains for the first 8 weeks but it doesn't seem to bother him as much now. I use colief occasionally if I eat to much dairy and I think that helps a bit.
  • I use Mylicon occasionally, but I never know if it's effective or if it just distracts LO from the pain.  Either way, it should work right away to reduce the bubbles in your LO's tummy.  It's not something that has to build up in their system.  If it's not working, I'd stop using them.  It won't hurt them, but it's kind of a waste of $.

I also cut dairy from my diet, and my LO is no longer gassy.
