Good areas to rent a house.. currently in Southie

DH and I just moved here earlier this year and are still getting oriented to all the towns/cities in the area.

Currently we live near Southie. It is extremely conveinent for me and DH for work. However we are renting a teeny-tiny apt that won't really work for the long term.

We aren't 100% committed to Boston so we don't want to buy a place.

What are areas close to Southie that we should consider to rent a house?

    I live in Southie and we will be renting out our 2-bedroom, 2-bath in the spring.  We currently live here with two dogs and baby is due next week, so while we don't have a ton of space, we may have more than you currently have. Please send me a personal message if you'd like to talk.  :)
