Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Tummy Sleeper

My LO has been a tummy sleeper since she was 10 weeks old. She was a colicky baby and this was the only way she would sleep. She also transitioned to her crib  and was sleeping all night at this time. However for the past month she rolls on to her back which wakes her up and she will not go back to sleep that way. Any advice on what to do. I'm getting very little sleep these days. Thanks!

Re: Tummy Sleeper

  • I don't have any advice, but we are going through the same thing right now. DS started sleeping on his stomach at 4 months and has slept that was ever since. About a month ago he started flipping over on his back in the middle of the night and it really ticks him off. He will start bawling, but it's like he is too sleepy to roll back over. I always end up going in there to put him back on his stomach. Hopefully someone else will have some advice on this, because I need some too! I've not been getting much sleep lately and it is starting to catch up with me.

  • DD was like this as well when she first figured out how to roll. It was terrible for a while, but they do eventually learn either to roll themselves over again or to put themselves back to sleep. I know this really doesn't help but just wanted you to know you are not alone and it does get better in a few weeks.

  • Thanks! I think it has to do with teething as well that is making her so restless. She loves to roll back and forth while playing on the floor but she hasn't figured that out in the middle of the night. Some nights were up every hour........yuck! Anyway again Thank you both for letting me know were not alone.
