Beaumont OB/Gyn recommendations??

Hi,

I delivered 2 kids at Beaumont RO and loved the hospital.  I just found out I am expecting # 3, but my OB is kinda old, and is not up-to-date on new technology.  He also does not have a partner, so his work is really hard on him.  I am looking for a Beaumont group practice (preferrably on the west side...W. Bloomfield, F. H., Commerce twp, Novi, etc) that has multiple docs, in office ultrasounds, and has heard of cord blood banking... (Yes, mine did not know about it w/ my last one and had to 'learn' it...)

Any help/recomendations you could give would be awesome!

Re: Beaumont OB/Gyn recommendations??

  • My doctors are in Birmingham, Generations OBGYN. I like them. There are 6 doctors in the practice and I liked them all. I've been going to them for about 6 years. They do ultrasounds right in the office and they do know about cord blood banking. Hopefully this helps!

  • Thank you so much!  This does help.  I noticed they were noted in Hour Detroit magazine's Top Docs article.  I will check them out.  Is there any of them that you would recomend over any others?  I am assuming that since it is a rotation, you will get whoever is on-call when you deliver, right?  (My last ob was a one guy show, so I knew who I was getting...except he was half asleep because of his schedule) :>

    Thanks again!

  • Just curious also.. of the 6, I was thinking of picking Dr. McCLOSKEY as I wanted a female dr.. (I think)... Which one(s) do you like... Any dislikes?

    Thanks!

  • I go to Somerset OB GYN in Troy and love it there.

I used to always want a female until I met Dr Garcia. I LOVE him. He is the best doc I have ever had. He is so personable, knowledgeable and down to earth but when it comes to the delivery he is all business. When my daughter ended up in the NICU he called the NICU and me every day to see how we were. He is just so kind.

Other then him I believe there are 6 docs...Dr Ohm (male), Dr Long (male), Dr Weimermiller (female), Dr Salem (female) and 1 more female doc. There was not one I would not have felt comfortable with...I just was not thrilled with the one doc who's name I can not remember (she is Dr Longs wife).

     Good Luck!

  • I go to the Michigan Womens Health Clinic in Clawson, but they also have an office in West Bloomfield.  There are eight doctors in the practice and two are women (Dr. Charfoos and Dr. Goldberg).

  • I switched last year to Generations when I was referred to them by two different people.  They each had the same exact things to say about the practice and individual doctor's.  One has had 4 babies through them and my friend just had one last year.  All of those babies were C-sections due to medical / health problems (not for the purpose of having one).   I myself see Dr. McClosky and she is wonderful.  None of the doctor's sugar coat things and are very honest with you.  I am 5 months pregnant and have seen a couple doctor's myself and can say this.  The ONLY doctor that gave me a bad feeling was Dr. Dean, and I'm not too excited about Cheryl.  All the others are absolutely wonderful.  Dr. Bhargava is amazing, Dr. Dykowski acts like he's known you for years and they are all very sympathetic and very excited to meet with you.  The office is very "high tech".  All birthing classes, CPR and breastfeeding classes are right at the office.  All ultrasounds are done there as well -- I'm having a 4D ultrasound at the end of december.  I have been very pleased with everything.  When there are problems during preganacy, they are extremely cautious and take every precaution.  My friend had pre-ecamplsia and they monitored her every other to every 2 days until they decided to induce her since her baby started to show fetal stress.  I highly recommend them.
  • I go to Women's First in Royal Oak (they are locatd a block east of Main, but are moving right next to the McDonalds right next to Beaumont on Woodward).  I love the drs there.  They are 4 women, and a woman PA.  They are very caring  - I cried through an entire appt because of a medicine I am on and the dr held my hand :)

anyhow, I obviously haven't had my  baby yet, but so far I would definately recommend them!

  • I have a good friend who uses Generations and loves the midwives.  If you're looking for something more west side, I see Dr. Hakim on Orchard Lake in Farmington Hills.  She's in with about 5 other doctors.  I've seen Dr. Banooni and Dr. Wallace in that office as well and like all of them.
