Calcium Deficiency?

Has anyone had blood work resulting in a calcium deficiency as a result of pregnancy?

I did, and I'm wondering how common it is.  I didn't have any signs or symptoms.  Then, yesterday at the dentist, I had a cracked tooth.  The dentist says it may due to my calcium deficiency.

I take a multivitamin, but now also additional supplements as a result.

Re: Calcium Deficiency?

  • It's actually very common, I'm really surprised the Doctor I had this time around didn't recommend taking a calcium supplement. With my other 4 kids I lived in Canada my OB there had asked me about my diet and when I told him I don't drink milk he immediately had me take calcium and wanted me to eat foods rich in calcium as much as I can. My OB here in the US didn't ask me at all about my diet never even told me to take prenatal vitamins. I did on my own. Not sure if it was just over looked or what but I have had many friends not taking extra calcium.
