non-stress test question

I have a two vessel cord.  I had a placenta previa but it cleared as of Monday.

Why does my non-stress test have to happen three days after I see my specialist?  This was not fully explained to me at my last appointment, and my appointment was moved without my knowledge to today.

I saw the specialist Monday and had an u/s done where they said my placenta previa cleared up.  So, I had no idea until the receptionist at my regular OB called me at work to find out where I was at.  I have told them previously that there was no way I could make it on the 15th.  I had a big work thing today and I couldn't get out of it.  I couldn't make it there before closing, so she told me I had to go to L&D and get it done TODAY.  Even though my original appointment is tomorrow.  After I told her that my insurance wasn't going to be ok with me going to L&D and I couldn't afford the fee for that she backed down and told me to just come tomorrow.  Plus I work an hour away from my doctors office.  So there was just no way it was happening today.

I am loosing my mind with these appointments.  Why exactly does it have to be every three days?

I'm not exactly sure.  I was scheduled for 2 a week.  I was told it had to be either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday - no other options.  If I had an appt with a specialist that week, I could skip one.  I never asked the reason, but I'm curious now!  It drove me crazy.  In all honesty, I skipped one or 2 and they were fine with it.  I think they were being SUPER overprotective.  I had GD but it was very well controlled and there were no issues with the baby at all.  Let me know if you find out the reason for the 3 day wait.
