Anyone have it inserted after the 6 week pp check up? I have the implanon but hate it and want it removed. I have heard from a couple people that it hurts very bad if you get inserted after your 6 week pp visit....
This is my second Mirena. The first one I had prior to delivering DS and holy crap it hurt like a motherfvcker. This one I had inserted at 8 weeks pp and I literally didn't even feel it. Honest.
This x10. I thought I was dying. I have had 2 c-sections and a D&C and nothing compared to the insertion. Take pain meds prior to insertion just to be sure.
I've had it done twice. Once it hurt and the second time it didn't hurt at all. Something most people don't know is that not all docs use a local anesthetic when inserting IUDs. Definitely ask yours. I found out later that the first doc didn't use one which is why it hurt. The second one did and I didn't feel a thing.
I got mine 3 months pp and it just felt like one strong contraction. It was AFTER that is was killer! I went home and the next day was in so much pain that I couldn't even sit down. It was so intense it brought me to tears and I didn't shed one tear during labor.
Well I guess I lost my IUD even though it was put correctly since it was too close after birth. The doctor said "my uterine muscle was very strong" and he has had only one other person in 18 years have the IUD fall out like mine. I can't get another either since my body already rejected it.

I had mine inserted 3 months pp and it hurt like hell. I almost levitated off the table (and I always considered myself as having a high pain threshold)!!! Good luck...

I have had three IUD's - 2 previous to having DS. The first insertion was the most uncomfortable, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. Take an ibuprofen before going in and you should be okay.
I might be the exception rather than the rule, but none of my insertions or removals were particularly painful. Definitely get an expert to do it, though. My OBGYN did two of mine and it was no big deal.
I got mine about 3 months PP and it was the worst.pain.ever. For me anyways. They also didn't numb it, but I almost passed out. I have had friends though, that said it wasn't bad at all.

I got mine 10 weeks PP. The speculum killed because I was still recovering from a 3rd degree tear but I barely felt the insertion. I think its a little different for everyone depending on their body and the skill of the person inserting it but I don't think its supposed to be very painful.
i think i'm somewhere int he middle here...it sure wasn't a picnic getting it in, but i didn't think i was going to die right there on the table either. i got it at my 6 week pp visit...and i had a c/s...so not sure if that's a factor? and i don't know if my doctor used an anesthetic. i'm getting it out soon though becuase now they are telling me that even the low dose of hormones could be messing with my moods/despression. good times.

oy... maybe I'll go back to the pill after I get my implanon out. All I know is that I need.it.out!
I was considering the Implanon, what has been your issue(s)? I currently have the Mirena but my man complains of feeling the strings after they've been cut and tucked back into my cervix. I know that I don't want to do the pill ever again. I love the Mirena with the exception of how its impairing my sex life!

The main ones: lack of sex drive, teenage acne, discharge/smell (TMI I know), period is crazy in the sense it comes and goes and I spot a lot.

I love it
