WDYT? NBR food

i know how my fellow Jan mommas loves them some food so tell me what you think:

Christmas Eve Appetizers

1. mushroom soup (possibly if my aunt doesn't fvck it up - Lord knows I can't do it!)

2. Spinach dip (with both bread and veggies to dip)

3. Cheese and crackers

4. Shrimp cocktail (guess I'll just buy this cause I don't know anything about fish)

5. mozz and tomatos with balsamic

6. green salad

7. deviled eggs

8. ** this is my question ** should I do stuffed mushrooms? Never made them before, love them, but not sure if it's worth the work.

I'm having 14 adults plus JT and serving dinner.

  • I'd serve the salad with dinner.  Soup might go better with the meal, too (you kind of have to... commit to soup, while the rest of your spread you can graze here & there while you wait).

Stuffed mushrooms are pretty easy and foolproof, and would make for a good counterpoint since most of your other apps are cold.  You can use a ton of different stuffings, too.

Hey Hey Hey - I'm not Broccoli over here! 1 stuffing :) And that's it!!

Yes, I agree the warm appetizer will be good...I'm going with it. Wish me luck!!

  • Do you have room for one more? Wink That all sounds soooo good. You just inspired me to (finally) start meal planning for XMas.

  • You silly lady. I'm not saying to make a lot of stuffings, I'm saying if you don't really feel like browning sausage and onions and crap you can combine some crumbled bleu cheese and bacon, or make up a packet of wild rice & use that.  Look around at a bunch of recipes, especially if the first one you find looks daunting and crazy, is what I'm saying.

LOL oh, gotcha. I found a recipe using Chicken Stove Top Stuffing that seems easy peasy so I'm going with that. Some of the others really did scare me!
