so about 12 - 24 hours after my csection, I had my foley catheter removed. I had to have a temporary catheter inserted because I could not get my bladder to let down. I had plenty of fluids and had to go pee super bad, but I sat on the toilet forever and could not get my bladder to let down. It was very painful so they just did a catheter to get my bladder to release and after that I was able to use the restroom, no problem. Well since then, I seem to have a urinary tract infection. It hurts every time I pee. I thought maybe it was just irritation from having to have another catheter inserted in such a small amount of time but the pain keeps worsening so the nurse has called in a clean catch urine sample. Why is it that the pain from the possible UTI is worse than the pain and soreness from the actual section?
Anyway, just thought I'd share this possible way to get a UTI just in case. I'd like to add that this exact same thing happened with my first section.
Re: UTI because of catheter
I have gotten a UTI after both of my c-sections because of the catheter. This time around I will have antibiotics on hand and I always have cranberry juice in the house.
UTI's are very uncomfortable. Hopefully some antibiotics will knock it out quick and drink cranberry juice...it can help heal the infections faster than medicine alone.
believe it or not, I am still in the hospital so thankfully, I am downing cranberry juice like crazy and hoping my nurse shows up with the antibiotics ASAP!!
