1st Trimester

Baby bump already?

I have always been slender with a bit of a belly roll. I am only 8 weeks and I look like I am showing already! Some people have said " awe look at your little baby bump" and others have said I am crazy and it's all in my head. I know it is not usual to show until around 15 weeks+. Does anyone else feel like this or do I just have an oversized fat roll?

It's probably bloat. Your uterus isn't high enough for it to be anything but tummy until around 12-13 weeks (especially if it's your first child)

    This.

First trimester bloat is unreal, and it's very likely that you do have  a "bump," but it's more bloat than baby until at least 12 weeks when your ute grows above your pelvic bone.

Yep.  You can tell if it's bloat or a real bump of any kind by checking it out first thing in the morning before you eat.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • You can start 'showing' early but it may not be due to the baby. I started really showing around 9 week with my twins but then again, I was having twins and growing at twice the normal rate. Heck, I delivered at 36 weeks and was measuring 53 weeks.

I am told with 2nd pregnancies, you may tend to show ealier as well. I feel like I have a bump but I know it's just bloat and not the actual baby yet.

THIS!  I'm only 6 weeks and my fat roll has seemed to be extremely oversized the past few days.  Stick out tongue

  • I agree with PPs it is bloat. Your uterus doesn't move above your pelvic bone until 12ish weeks and it isn't to your belly button until 20 weeks, especially as a FTM. That being said, I am a FTM who did show very early (not at 8 weeks though just bloating then), but I think that has more to do with the fact that I have been pregnant 5 times in a 1.5 years.

really? cause i have my 'bump' first thing in the morning too and i'm pretty sure it's just bloat. (unless i'm having twins... i kind of hope not though)

  • When I asked a question like this everyone was like "it's just bloat"! Well I'm the one who will be disagreeing. However, I am having twins. This is my first pregnancy and at 6 weeks none of my pants fit! When I would wear them it hurt so bad (the zipper and button were left undone because they would not go up). At 7 weeks I stopped wearing pants other than one pair of adidas wind pants. At 8 I bought a pair of maternity pants. I was mainly a size 4/6 (mostly 6) then skipped 7 and straight into a 9 and now I borrowed a bigger size from a friend so I could do the hairband thing along with my maternity pants. Now my size 6 will not go over my thighs and my 9's wont go past my booty. When I spoke with my mother she said she was in maternity clothes at 8 weeks. Everyone is different. And my bump hasn't gone away since week 6. It was much smaller at week 6 but there's no denying it now. It also was there no matter what time of day it was.
