Breastfeeding

OK to combine milk from each breast together for storage?

I often get uneven amounts from each breast (3oz on one side, 2 oz on the other, for example) so to keep the stash portions even I will pour 0.5 oz from the larger bottle after I've pumped into the smaller bottle, so that they each have 2.5 oz.  Then I put them into bags and into the freezer. I assume this is okay but wanted to check...?

  • Yes, BM is BM as long as it is from your body. No different than LO nursing off of both breasts....

I think it's safe to say that most women combine. Once my milk balanced out around 3 months, i was no longer getting 5 oz. per breast so I had to combine.

  • Yep, totally fine. I always combined, and I think most people do.
