So...I called my doctor's office after work and apparently they close at 4:00 on Wednesdays (awesome). So I asked the answering service if they thought I should page the on call doctor and after I told them my symptoms she said she would definitely call. So she paged the on call doctor and he called me back. He sounded very annoyed and this is pretty much how the conversation went:
Dr: So you have a headache. Have you been getting them a lot during the pregnancy?
Me: No. I got them every once in a while before I got pregnant but I haven't really had any since the first trimester...
Dr: Well that's odd, usually you get them more often during pregnancy...how far along are you again?
Me: 37 weeks. I know they tell you to keep an eye out for headaches and blurry vision and everything because it could mean your blood pressure is high...I do have a doctor's appointment tomorrow but I was worried about waiting.
Dr: Yea. Have you taken anything for it?
Me: No, I kind of wanted to see if there was anything else I could do to make it better...I was told I wasn't supposed to take anything if I didn't have to. And since I have sort of blurry vision and I haven't been feeling well I wanted to talk to someone first. I've had a cold so it could just be a coincidence but I was still worried.
Dr: No it's fine, just take some Tylenol.
Me: Oh...ok. So there's nothing to worry about? Even with everything else going on?
Dr: You're probably fine. They'll check your blood pressure tomorrow.
Then he pretty much hung up on me. So yea apparently everything you've heard about things to be worried about is all lies and it's totally cool to just take drugs whenever anything is bothering you while you're pregnant. I think I'll go home and wash down a fistfull of Tylenol with a bottle of Jager...Ok I may be overreacting a little but I'm just super annoyed that he didn't even ask any questions or anything. Just told me to do something that my doctor told me NOT to do and hung up on me.
Also call me crazy but I don't like to ever hear a doctor say "You'll PROBABLY be fine"...

What a pain.
My doctor was out last week. I'm high risk with GD so I was told to call or go in if I had any signs of preeclampsia (which includes blurry vision, severe headache, swelling, etc.). So I call in and they make me wait four hours to go in...then sat there for an hour before the fill-in doctor saw me. He went on some 45 minutes about different medicines I could take and offered me a prescription for imitrex (which I'm glad I turned down because my regular doctor told me you really shouldn't take that during pregnancy when she returned yesterday--very little research on the affects of a baby in the womb). My blood pressure was a little high so I was sent home for the rest of the day to drink lots of water and keep my feet up.
Apparently you can get headaches if you have a high jump in hormones, which I guess can happen in the last two months of pregnancy (body prepping for labor). Definitely a good idea to get it checked out if you can. Hope everything turns out ok! Stick to your guns...if something doesn't feel right, ask for another opinion.
This was DH's suggestion too! But he didn't make it until I was already walking into English Class...but I took 1 Tylenol (which BTW the doctor said "I think you can take 3" and on the bottle it says to take 2 so...) and took a little nap during class and felt a little better by the time I got home. Although on second thought I really should have still checked it, I just figured since I felt better I was fine. Wow I'm kinda dumb...anyway according to the doctor high BP is no biggy and they'll just check for it at my doctor's appointment remember! Sorry he just really annoyed me.
