What temp

do you keep your house at? At night? During the day?

And what does LO sleep in?

Re: What temp

  • we dont usually run the heater, in CA is doesn't get cold enough really.

One night it dropped down to 58 in our house so for the sake of the DDs I turned it on to 69. Other than that it is pretty close to the weather outside for us. Although this year we did get new windows so that helps keep the warm in.

DD usually sleeps in foot fleece pjs. She always has a blanket or two, so she stays nice and toasty.

  • We just moved into this house and it has baseboard electric with thermostats in each room.  It's different than I'm used to, they aren't programmable tstats.

In LO room it's set to 65 but it feels way warmer than that.  She sleeps in footie fleece jammies and a fleece blanket that doesn't stay on her!

Out in the living space it's set at 60 but once again it feels way warmer than that.  Typically we're comfortable in jeans and long sleeve shirt.

  • 65 before we had DD, and 67 now that we have her. She sleeps in the warm pjs, and often sweats.

  • My mom's house is weird.  We can keep all the rooms at 70 and some will be freezing cold while others make you sweat the second you walk in there.  I just adjust the dial in E's room according to how it feels.  She's been sleeping in fleece footie pj's since we got here.

  • Wow, you guys like it cold. The lowest it's at in the winter is 75. The bedrooms get really hot, but the living room and kitchen are always freezing. I have to lower it when DD is napping so her room doesn't get too hot. She usually sleeps in just a long sleeve onesie. I'll put baby legs on her if it's supposed to be below 40 that night.

  • During the day 70/71.  Night time 68.  Coops room is always set at like 68-70ish.

I can't even imagine what my fuel bill would be like if we did that.  I have an old house with very little insulation on the first floor. We keep it at 68 during the times we are home and awake and 60 when we are gone or sleeping.  On the sencond floor where our bedrooms are we have it set to 55 - with an electric heater in ds room set to 65.  It costs me over $3000 in oil every winter.

That is nuts! When we were looking at rental houses, a couple of them had gas heat. I was relieved that we didn't end up liking any of them because I know how expensive it can get. We have electric heat now and our bill isn't nearly as bad as it is in the summer with the A/C on.

  • We have oil and live in NH in an old house, so we go through alot - hoping to reinsulate in the spring and that that will make a big difference.  Jan and Feb we need a delivery every 2 weeks. suck!

  • Depends. If we are home we keep it at 70 most of the time. If we are leaving for longer than 3 hours I turn it down to 57. Becuase the bedrooms normally get to hot at night we set it at 63 at night and I think the bed rooms stay around 70+.

Jay sleeps in footie pj's most nights but occasionally he will just sleep in a onesie.

We have natural gas and I think our bill is usually around 100 a month.

  • I am glad to hear most people here keep it between 60-70.  MIL keeps her home at 80! I think it is crazy!

  • We live on the top floor of a brick building that has central heating that we can't control. When it is lower than 50 outside, they turn the heat on. It's steam heat so the valves are in our apartment and then the heat travels down. In the living room/kitchen area it gets REALLY hot. The bedrooms are often cool at night though. DD sleeps in footie pajamas and a sleep sack (usually a fleece one). I sometimes think she might be a bit warm.

  • We usually keep ours at 67.  DS sleeps with socks (his feet are always cold) and a fleece sleeper.

  • We keep ours at 72-74 degrees. Strangly enough the upstairs is always freezing. I put Em in fleece footies because she gets a blanket to sleep with but never covers up with it. Aiden sleeps in 2 piece button up jammies. He is always snuggled into his blankets though.

We put new windows in our whole upstairs this summer and it barely made a difference. So it's obviously the horrible insulation that has it so cold all the time. The drafts from the old windows downstairs are horrible though. Our house was built in the 1967. Our electric bill in the winter runs $150-$200/month.
