I just found out at work that I have to travel a week after my ET. It's a short plane ride - about 1 hour. I spoke with the nurse at my RE, and they didn't seem to have any concerns. Maybe I'm just being overly protective and please don't flame me for freaking out. I'm just worried.....after spending all of this $$, I just want everything to be as perfect as possible.
Am I just being silly?? WWYD? TIA!
Re: Flying After IVF?
I wouldn't mind. One thing I would think about is that if you are going to be away for your PIO shots (if you are on PIO), just work out how that will happen.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
Oh I totally forgot about about the progesterone oil shots! Not sure I could give them to myself.....
Another option is to drive. My husband said he'd be willing to drive me there (about an 8 hour car ride) and stay with me for the night. Maybe I should just do that. That way he could give me the shots.
Ugh!
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!
We flew home for Christmas about a week after my ET. Didn't affect things at all, and I had 3 embies stick
I asked my RE about it prior. They have lots of patients who fly to them for treatment, and they recommend waiting 48 hrs, and then it's fine. I totally understand being nervous about it, as I was too...after everything you go through. But, really it's ok.
As for the PIO.....I learned to give them myself. And honestly? they were less painful that way! Here's the trick: get everything ready. For the hip you are injecting, prop it up on the bathroom counter, like you're half sitting on it. Use that arm to inject, and just reach around. Super easy. I'm not sure what it is about this method...taking the pressure off that muscle? But it totally helped and made it much less painful! Give it a try while your DH is still around, so you can practice.
GL with your cycle!
I flew 3 days and 7 days after my ET and came home to a BFP!
I wouldn't worry about it all. I just was extra cautious about lifting anything heavy and made sure to drink lots of water.
The traveling actually helped the 2ww go by quickly.
Good Luck!!
