No flames please, I feel awful!!!

Justin has a beta fish we bought a few months ago. It's little tank sits on my kitchen counter. On Thanksgiving, I was trying to clear as much space as possible so I took the fish to the basement and put his tank on the top shelf in the storage room.

...Fast fwd to yesterday. I'm cleaning out my cupboards and find this fish tank water cleaning solution and remembered... OMG  sh!t we have a fish. I put him in the basement and forgot, FOR 3 WEEKS. Guess what? It's still alive- and fine! Now that is a hearty pet, lol. I need more sleep.

    Oh, they can live out of water for more than 20 minutes. How do I know this? I have 2 nephews who thought they were putting his fish to "bed". They literally put him in his bed and were reading to the fish when I got done putting the baby down for a nap. It's still alive:)

    That story is too funny! Beta fish are the best. I betcha he was one hungry fish.

    TTC since 6/2003. m/c 9/14/03 8 weeks, 5 chemical pregnancies, mmc 6/04 12 weeks, Michael born sleeping 5/25/05 at 22weeks always our angel, fought ovarian cancer and won, m/c 4/06 5.2 weeks and 7/07 6.6 weeks,Our Miracle baby girl born 4/8/10,mc 12/18/11 at 5.3 weeks, BFP 10/26/12 dating u/s on 11/8/12 showing a strong heartbeat!EDD July 4,2013. RCS on 6/27. Baby boy in NICU for 8 long and scary days before he was able to come home. We are now a happy family of 4

    That's great :-) We have a Beta in L's room and I have caught him trying to take the fish to the "tubby" with the net...

    Glad you remembered him- maybe get him a juicy bloodworm meal for xmas...

    Ok, I can beat that (haha) I had a beta in college and took him home for winter break but left him in my car overnight and the bowl and fish froze solid. I brought him in the next day (when I remembered) and put him next to my parents' fireplace and he started swimming around a few hours later. So yeah, I agree. They are good pets to have - from toddler to college student :)

    Haha! I don't feel so bad for not changing Nemo's water for the past 3 weeks lol

    They are sturdy fish, thank goodness...
