I was so hoping not to have a huge ugly child safety gate surrounding our Christmas Tree this year. I purchased a kit of plastic ornaments and had already decided I wouldn't put up any of our beloved ones. Emily is usually pretty good about not messing with things if we tell her it's off limits.
However. She has taken to LICKING the lights. Lights = lead. Last time I checked, lead is not good for developing young bodies. She goes and leans forward, licks a light and says with a slurping sound "ssslllpt! Nummy MissMiss Lights!!".OK, so it's kind of cute but dangerous. Baby girl should not be licking lights. The more we try to stop her, the more she uses it to test my limits and my patience is not infinite so now the tree is surrounded. I'm guessing she isn't excessively messing with the tree at kiarox's house or she'd have said something. My thoughts are there are far more cool distracting new toys over there and she's not as determined to drive me insane.
I plan to seek out absolutely lead free options next year.
BTW - To whomever/whoever?? loaned us the awesome "ugly" gate last year, thank you . Obviously we still need it.
Re: Christmas cheer and defense perimeter installed.
Oh dear, only Emily.
My mom used to put the tree and present on the pack n play. It worked the same as your fence.
This is probably a really dumb question, but is there any way that you can take the lights off the tree and just have ornaments? Or is it one of those pre-lit trees?
If it is a pre-lit tree, if you don't plug it in, will that stop her from being interested in licking?
