I went to se babies doctor yesterday and she mentioned that babies left side of her head is a little flatter than her right. Not very noticeable but I had noticed it before so I started rotating her head as much as I can but baby always goes back to her left side. She mentioned having to see a specialist if it doesn't improve by the time she is 4 months. I am super nervous because I don't want baby to wear a helmet.. has this happened to anyone?
Re: Flat head??
I have been worried about this too and posted about it a few weeks ago on the 3-6 months board. Evelyn's head s flat on her left side too. Her pedi said to just keep doing what we were doing (switching the side she sleeps on in the crib so she looks the opposite way when crying for you, switching the way she lays when she's changed and bathed, continued tummy time). We also have put a rolled up A&A blanket under her head so she's less likely to roll to one side and its helped but it hasn't totally fixed the problem. Many moms suggested the Boppy Noggin Nest but I wasn't sure I wanted to get it since her issue is not in the middle of her head but rather on the side.
I know this is pretty common though and it usually gets better with time. I totally understand your concern though. GL!

Both my DD and DS had a flat spot from the time they were born. DS also was diagnosed with Torticollis at 4 weeks, and this impacted his flat spot as well. We started physical Therapy for the Torticollis, and we now have a Noggin Nest in his Rock N Play and anything else he uses. Whether it is the Noggin nest or not, his flat spot has GREATLY improved-even the PT noticed. It's definitely worth the $15 for it.
We saw the Ped Orthopedic Surgeon last week, and I asked about the helmet, and he said in his opinion no child ever needs a helmet
