Moving back to Austin April 2nd!

Hi Ladies! DH is getting a promotion at work and we'll be moving back to Austin first week of April. We lived there for eight months in 2007 before having any kids. This is going to be a totally different experience! We lived in Round Rock last time and his work is an Austin address but close to Round Rock. Just wondering where you suggest looking to live. I'm not sure how long we'll be living there but just in case I'm wondering what good school districts are etc. We may buy a house since things are so cheap there but we have no time to fly out and look so we're probably going to rent for a bit while we look for something. I'll also need a new pedi which I'm heartbroken about because we LOVE ours here in Oregon. Any recommendations?? Glad to be coming back down there, but sad to be leaving home. I'll probably be looking for some people to have play dates with when I get there! I have a great group of mom friends from my local board here that I'm leaving and I want my LOs to have new friends too. Smile Anyway, just wanted to say hello and see what you all had for ideas for homes/pedis etc for me. Thanks so much!

  • Congrats on the promotion and move!

As far as where to live, I don't know a ton about RR schools. I would choose to live in NW Austin-like the Arboretum area or maybe even in Cedar Park (where you'll get a lot more house for your money). Both of those areas have good schools although I hear/know a lot more about the high schools than elementary.

Pedi recs: I (and many moms here) use and love Dr. Chang at Treehouse Pediatrics. I've also seen Dr. Travis there and both the NPs and liked them a lot. Dr. Cepeda at Jollyville Pediatrics (in NW Austin) gets a lot of recs. I have more than one friend who uses Lone Star Pediatrics and they love them. Whatever recs you get, I'd choose based on proximity to your house.

  • We live in Cedar Park and my Pedi is Dr. Sperling at North Austin Pediatrics.  The office is attached to the new Cedar Park Regional Hospital.  The school district we are in is Leander and from what I hear it is a good school district.  We love our community and we are really not that far North........easy to get everywhere and we have a ton of stuff around here.  Welcome back and have a nice holiday!

    Ditto all of this.  lol

I grew up in Cedar Park, went to Leander schools, and had a good experience.

North Austin Pediatrics is always great at getting us in for same day and Saturday appts.

  • Ditto the Cedar Park posts.

My pediatrician is Dr. Sperling at North Austin Pediatrics. I can NOT say enough good things about her, she is amazing.

Leander ISD schools are very very good. I can talk to you more in depth about the schools if you have more questions about where in Cedar Park specifically.
